David Payne

David Payne is the fifth generation of Paynes who have had their lives shaped by boats. Born into a sailing family, he has crossed oceans, raced skiffs, designed contemporary boats for others to do the same, documented, recreated and designed historic craft,  and explored  the intriguing and sophisticated world of Indigenous watercraft in Australia and Papua New Guinea. He is currently the Curator of Historic Vessels at the Australian National Maritime Museum.
